October 16, 2006 Due to the amazing success of the Detroit Tigers, the “Ring Kings of the Palace” show, scheduled for this Saturday has been moved forward one day, to Friday October 20, 2006, at the Palace of Auburn Hills. “We have decided to support the Tigers and reschedule our boxing event. This way, Detroit sports fans don’t have to choose one or the other and can enjoy two terrific nights of professional sports over this coming weekend,” explained promoter Joe Donofrio. "Any and all tickets and complimentary seat vouchers will be honored on the 20th. GO TIGERS!" The main event of the night will feature the return of former world champion Clarence "Bones" Adams (41-6, 19 KOs). A popular television favorite until his hiatus from boxing three years ago, Adams will face Panamanian veteran Armando Cordova (21-27-2, 16 KOs) in the ten-round lightweight main event. In the co-main event, Detroit’s hard-punching dynamo Lanardo "The Pain Server" Tyner (13-0, 9 KOs) will take on the upset-minded Martinus "Magnificent" Clay (12-12-1, 4 KOs) in a super welterweight scorcher. Clay is coming off an impressive, hard-fought victory over 34-1 Matt Vanda, so he should provide Tyner with his sternest test to date. Several local favorites will also make appearances on Friday. Grand Rapids native Jennifer "The Bolivian" Salinas (8-1, 3 KOs) will face late sub Darnella "Tuff Stuff" Barnes in a women’s featherweight bout; world-class super lightweight contender Damian "Damo" Fuller (25-4-1, 12 KOs) goes against Derrick "The Dragon" Moon; former world title challenger Cory "Primetime" Johnson (33-3-2, 11 KOs) will be in tough against Indiana super middleweight Jose "Seek and Destroy" Spearman (27-12-4, 11 KOs); and rounding out the action, Darryl "Dangerous Man" Cunningham (3-1, 2 KOs) will face Alexander "K.O." Mancera (5-1, 4 KOs); and Chicago super welterweight Ninos "Finitos" Abraham (2-0) will take on power punching Robert "U Goin Down" Smallwood (4-2-2, 4 KOs). Fans interested in attending the Friday, October 20, 2006, event at the Palace of Auburn Hills, can download a free-of-charge general admission seat at http://donofrioboxing.com/fightnewsvoucher.html. Premium tickets are priced at $85.00 front row, $75.00 ringside, and $50.00 VIP and are on sale now at Palacenet.com, the Palace Box Office and all TicketMaster locations. Doors will open on fight night at 6:30 pm. The action starts at 8:00 pm. |
